WINDSHIELD CHIP & CRACK REPAIR IN BALTIMORE, MD
Caught the chip early? A 15-minute repair can save you a full windshield replacement — and most insurance policies cover it with no deductible. We come to you anywhere in the Baltimore area.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
- Rock chips, star breaks, bull's-eye chips, and small cracks.
- Resin injection stops the crack from spreading.
- Done on-site in 15–30 minutes.
- Most insurance carriers waive the deductible for chip repair.
- If the damage is too large to repair, we can replace the same day.
WHAT RESIN INJECTION ACTUALLY DOES
A rock chip is a void: the outer layer of laminated glass has broken and air is now sitting in the fracture, which is why it looks white or silver. We pull that air out under vacuum, force a clear acrylic resin into the break under pressure, then cure it with UV light so the resin hardens with roughly the same refractive index as the glass. The result is a repair that restores strength across the break and stops it from running.
The reason it works is that the damage never reached the plastic interlayer. Once a crack does — or once it reaches the edge of the glass, where the stress is highest — repair is off the table and it becomes a replacement. That is the single judgment call that matters on this job, and it is why we would rather look at a photo before quoting.
BALTIMORE ROADS AND WHY CHIPS SPREAD FAST HERE
Two things kill chips in Maryland: temperature swings and potholes. A 25-degree morning followed by a 55-degree afternoon flexes the glass around the void, and a hard hit on a patched stretch of the Beltway or Reisterstown Road delivers the shock that turns a dime-sized chip into a 12-inch crack. We see the same pattern every February and March.
Practical advice while you wait for an appointment: keep a piece of clear tape over the chip to keep water and grit out, skip the car wash, and do not blast the defroster on high at a cold windshield. Get it looked at within a week or two — a $100-ish repair beats a full replacement, and most Maryland comprehensive policies waive the deductible on repair entirely, which means it often costs you nothing.
“By far the best windshield repair spot in Baltimore.”
FREQUENTLY ASKED
When can a chip be repaired vs. replaced?
Chips smaller than a quarter and cracks under 6 inches are usually repairable. Anything in the driver's line of sight or longer than 6 inches typically needs a full replacement.
Will the chip be invisible after repair?
The repair restores structural integrity and prevents spreading. The blemish is usually 80–95% less visible, but a faint mark may remain.
