STATIC VS. DYNAMIC RECALIBRATION, AND WHY THE DIFFERENCE MATTERS
A static recalibration is done standing still, with a printed OEM target board set at a manufacturer-specified distance and height in front of the vehicle on level ground. A dynamic recalibration is done driving — the scan tool stays connected while the vehicle runs a set route at a steady speed so the camera can relearn lane lines. Many vehicles need both, in a specific order, and skipping half of the procedure leaves the system reporting ready while it is still aiming a fraction of a degree off.
Level floor space and controlled lighting are the practical constraints, which is why ADAS work happens at our Pikesville shop rather than in a sloped driveway.
